Subj:	cables and connectors for upcoming KEK beam test

the cables for the atlas detector modules are Belden Vari-Twist, part number
9V28050.  the specifications are:
 
conductor:  28 AWG 
pitch:  twisted pair centers 0.100 inch 
twisted pair alternates with non-twisted sections for connector atachment.
 
we cut our cables to a length of 21 meters, 5.4 centimeters.  you may need
to cut your cables a little longer or shorter to end the cable at a flat
section.  the distance between flat sections has a large variation.  this
should not cause a problem with the system.  
 
Ned Spencer tells me the KEK electronics shop stocks Vari-Twist.  if not,
I could give you some supplier information.  
 
the power cable is made up from four 12 gauge multi-strand copper wires, 
terminated at both ends with short pieces of 14 gauge wire for flexibility.
the power cables were cut to the same lenght as the twist-flat cable, or
at little longer.
 
we have connectors for the twist flat cable and for the power cables.  we
will give them to you when you come to Santa Cruz in January.
