In the case where the DAQ hardware comes from CERN: * the SUN workstation should not be necessary since it communicates with the RAID via ethernet (NFS essentially) ... the main requirement is a workstation with ethernet, the TCP/IP applications, and the CERN library. I'm sure your DECstation has all this. * to install and boot the RAID, we need a simple serial text terminal ... I'm sure you'd have one of these about * the VME crate: after the workstation, this is the most unweildy item. I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect our VME configuration does not use the VSB backplane extensions, so it may be that any 6U VME crate with all voltages will be OK. * do you have an 8200 or 8500 external SCSI Exabyte tape drive ? Apart from the VME crate which may not need to be shipped, I think we need * the RAID * the CORBO (interrupts in, busy out) * the VMDIS 8004 (bus arbitration and display) * the TDC * the RAID's external hard disk * the RAID's special SCSI, Ethernet and RS232 cables These last items can be shipped cheaply and easily.
